"They're great when they want to sell you on insurance but the communication and service after you accept the quote could use some work. I originally worked with Alyssa and she assured me that their customer service was highly satisfactory. I had some concerns on my roof but Alyssa assured me that getting a roof inspection would not negatively affect me. She also told me that the drive safe only tracks location but that is not true, it tracks everything on your phone. My property insurance was set to start August 30th but was listed as pending. My mortgage company wasn't updated by State Farm like State Farm told me they would do. I constantly reached out to them to ask about why my insurance was still pending. I asked if my roof had something to do with it. Alyssa and multiple people from their office assured me that I had nothing to worry about and that it is pending just because underwriting is backed up. They supposedly confirmed this on their end with underwriting. Over a month later, my pending policy was completely removed from my profile so I called and a male employee told me that my property insurance was approved and will be showing up on my account. He specifically said my policy was approved. I thought that it was odd to be approved but removed from my account and he said it was just a system mistake and it would show up in a few days. He once again assured me that I have property insurance and I won't be scrambling to find coverage last minute. A few days later I got a refund check from State farm and had to call again to find out that my coverage was denied. I'm not necessarily upset about my coverage being denied. I'm upset that I was constantly told by this office that I have nothing to worry about and that my property insurance will be/was approved. At any point, they could have said that they weren't sure and that it is a possibility and that they would keep me updated. Or even they could have just owned up to misleading me for over a month. I spent a lot of time getting quotes from different companies and I went with this State Farm because Alyssa sold me on their customer service while getting a quote. But the customer service afterwards and receiving accurate information from people who are supposed to be knowledgeable in this area is also important when it comes to handling claims and questions. Their reasoning of "We can only tell you what we know from underwriting at the time" does not make sense... Then why did you tell me my policy was APPROVED? Why did I have to find out from a refund check in the mail just a few days after speaking with your office? I ended up switching to Progressive for both property and auto insurance for higher coverage and lower rate. This office is great when it comes to selling quotes but be prepared to be mislead and told inaccurate information."
"Goz, thank you for discussing this situation with us more so we could help clear up what felt like a lack of communication on our part. As we discussed, the insurance market, especially in Colorado is a fast-changing volatile environment, with many companies choosing not to offer coverage at all here. Our state is the 2nd highest when it comes to hail and 3rd for fires, and, as we talked about, our company has started getting far more rigorous when it comes to underwriting. We can legally bind coverage as an agency, but all applications get underwritten, and many homes are randomly getting inspected to ensure there is no preexisting damage. When this happens, we are not always informed until after the inspection is complete and underwriting makes a decision (as you experienced.) We can not communicate their decision until we are first informed, which happened the same time you were unfortunately. You were legally bound and had coverage, which is probably what you heard when we kept communicating to you that you had coverage and we had forwarded the information to your mortgage company several times. We absolutely want business, and thoroughly enjoyed helping and getting to know you, and do everything we can, within our power and information at the time, to communicate everything as it transpires during underwriting. We absolutely did this with you as soon as we were made aware of anything, but in this case, we were informed the same time as you, that an inspection was done and though you still had coverage, repairs needed to be made to keep it beyond the specified time they outlined in the communication to you. We realize this was NOT ideal, and would have preferred to be informed of this prior to you getting this guidance, but that was not how it worked, which is why you did not hear from us. Going forward, we commit to better informing customers a random inspection could happen while in underwriting. In terms of Drive Safe & Save, our agents give you an overview of the program, but all the details in terms of the ever-changing factors which determine the discount (speed, braking, distraction, number of miles etc.) are detailed in the communication that was emailed to you and are always available online as well. Sorry if this was not clear, or you did not get the opportunity to review that information. We appreciate you said you would prefer an “agency” rather than an 800 number to help advocate and protect you and that you would consider us again in the future. As I stated to you on the phone, we are here for you if anything else changes or comes up, please reach out :-) Gwen "
